In this update, the Start Menu will transition from its current multi-column format to a single-column, scrollable interface. This means that all pinned icons and installed apps will be visible on one page, eliminating the need for users to click the “All Apps” button to view their applications.

Before this update, Windows 11’s Start menu would show recently opened applications, edited documents, or items from OneDrive. With this new setting, users can now turn off “Recommendations,” so the Start menu will only display pinned and installed applications.

Microsoft’s built-in algorithms automatically sort applications into categories like “Tools,” “Productivity,” “Games,” and “Social,” helping users quickly locate the apps they need. However, at this time, users cannot customize these categories.
The revamped Start Menu is anticipated to roll out later this year.
