The developer behind "Barotrauma," FakeFish, has unveiled a new trailer for their upcoming game "Frostrail." This open-world survival FPS is set against the backdrop of a frozen world. Scheduled for an early access release on Steam in 2026, the game will feature multiplayer co-op support.

Game Overview

Once a powerful empire, this land is now engulfed by perpetual frost, reduced to a barren wasteland. The emperor's pact with the void has warped and twisted the terrain, leaving it haunted by undead spirits and eerie horrors. The "Penitent Gardeners," traveling on armored steam trains, purge this cursed land of malevolence, rescue the lost souls, vanquish evildoers, and search for redemption within the desolate icy expanse.

The train serves as both your sanctuary and your sole means of progression. While navigating the frozen wastelands, it will be your lifeline, supporting your existence and transporting all necessary supplies for survival. Fuel the "Eden Engine," manage its power, and steer the train further into uncharted territories to scavenge the world's remaining resources.

As survival challenges grow tougher, you'll need to keep upgrading your train. Strengthen the chassis, set up weapon stations, and enhance engine performance to outrun the horrifying entities pursuing you. By adding new carriages, workbenches, and storage compartments, you can build a mobile fortress capable of resisting the cold and external dangers.

Beyond the tracks is a world frozen in death, with ruins deeply buried under ice and time. In this wasteland, you must search for essential supplies, scavenge remnants from abandoned settlements, and brave the frost-covered ruins. As you delve deeper into these perilous areas, you may encounter lethal dangers but also stand to gain substantial rewards.
