In recent years, we’ve seen many popular games being adapted into films and TV shows. For instance, there’s the “Minecraft” movie, “Fallout,” and “The Last of Us.” Now, another major game series might be getting its own “Netflix version.” In a recent podcast episode, a credible insider suggested that one of Blizzard Entertainment’s franchises could soon be adapted by Netflix.
This information was shared by Jez Corden, the co-host of the podcast “Xbox Two” and a reputable source for game news leaks. In a recent episode, Corden mentioned that he had heard about “a collaboration between one of Blizzard’s game series and Netflix.” While he didn’t specify which games might be involved, he noted that Blizzard’s major franchises are limited in number. The most notable titles include “Overwatch,” “World of Warcraft,” “Diablo,” and “StarCraft.”

Another co-host, Rand al’Thor 19, speculated that a Netflix adaptation of “StarCraft” is the most likely scenario. After all, popular projects like the “Minecraft” movie can reignite players’ passion for the game. Hence, it makes sense to explore film and television adaptations while developing a new “StarCraft” game.

However, the initial DLC for “Diablo IV” hasn’t been very well received, and “Overwatch” is under significant pressure from its rivals. As a result, Blizzard may look into turning these games into movies or TV series as a strategy to win back players’ interest.
As for what “Netflix adaptation” means, historically speaking, most major video game series on this streaming platform have been animated versions, like Arcane, Castlevania, and Carmen Sandiego. Recently, however, some game adaptations are moving towards live-action formats, such as the Dungeons & Dragons movie. Netflix might be aiming to expand in this direction to compete with other live-action series like The Last of Us.

However, there is currently no official word on any adaptations of Blizzard series by Netflix or others. While Corden is a reliable source, he noted that this information is just what he has heard. If we do hear about any significant Blizzard adaptations, it will likely be at BlizzCon. This major event won’t occur in 2025 but has been confirmed to return in September 2026. Such events are typically prime opportunities for major announcements, so Blizzard might delay any adaptation news until then.
