Nintendo has unveiled a new feature for playing "The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom" on the Switch 2: the Zelda Notes App. In a recent livestream, they showcased how this app can be used to connect with the Hyrule navigation map for tracking enemies, utilizing photo mode, sharing auto-build creations, and managing item storage and exchange outside of the game.

"The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" and "The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom" are set to launch on Switch 2. Alongside in-game enhancements, Nintendo has introduced several new features via the Zelda Notes option in its Nintendo Switch App, such as an achievement system.

The Nintendo Switch App (previously known as the Nintendo Switch Online App) is getting an update that includes Zelda Notes—a dedicated service for the Switch 2 versions of Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.

Unveiled during a recent Switch 2 Direct presentation, this app enables players to navigate landmarks in Zelda games using GPS-like functionality. The achievement system tracks your gameplay data and awards badges within the app based on your activities. Achievements cover actions like opening treasure chests and earning rupees.

Nintendo has categorized achievements into sections such as “Completed Quests and Adventures,” “Number of Light Temples Completed,” “Visited Locations,” “Unlocked Light Roots,” among others. Besides tracking this information, it also allows players to compare their progress with others globally.

Although these achievements focus on completionism, it’s intriguing to see Nintendo experimenting with these options. These features are part of a mobile app rather than directly integrated into the Switch 2 console itself, but it raises curiosity about whether other games might receive similar updates in future.

Additional features in Zelda Notes include daily rewards offering useful resources; a “Voice Memories” section that enriches world lore as you explore; and an auto-build sharing tool. These functionalities seem particularly beneficial for those replaying these two iconic Zelda titles on Switch 2.
